KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Missouri Western junior forward Corbyn Cunningham has been named the final MIAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week. Cunningham earned the honor for the second time this season.
The Albuquerque, New Mexico native averaged 21.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and shot 55.2% from the field as Missouri Western rolled Northwest Missouri State and Washburn in its final two regular season games. Cunningham scored a career high 26 points and matched a career-high with 16 rebounds in the 77-49 win over Northwest. Against, Washburn she scored 17 with seven rebounds.
Cunnigham ended the regular season as the only player in the MIAA to rank top-5 in the conference in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage. Her 15.7 points per game were fifth most; her 8.5 rebounds per game were third most; and her 57.4% shooting from the field was third-best in the MIAA this season.
It was the third MIAA weekly honor for a member of the team this season. Chris Wilson picked up the honor on Nov. 19 and Cunningham was named Player of the Week on Jan. 20.
