ST. JOSEPH - The Missouri Western women's basketball team led wire-to-wire against Northwest Missouri State Tuesday as they defeated the Bearcats 77-49. The Griffons improve to 20-7 this season and 12-6 in the MIAA, while Northwest drops to 11-16 and 6-12 in league play.
Missouri Western jumped out to a 21-10 lead after the first quarter by shooting 66.7% from the field and 80% from the free throw line. After a low-scoring third quarter, Northwest got red-hot from 3-point range and outscored the Griffons 27-19 in the quarter. The 27 Bearcat points in the third were five more than Northwest scored in the other three quarters combined. A 19-2 Griffon run to start the fourth quarter iced the game for Missouri Western.

- The Griffons have now won nine-straight over their rivals in St. Joseph and have won 12 of the last 13 in the series overall
- MWSU out-rebounded the Bearcats 40-25 and outscored them 42-16 in the paint
- The Griffons shot 66.7% in the first quarter, 61.5% in the third quarter and 57.1% in the fourth quarter
- MWSU outscored Northwest 25-6 in the fourth quarter
- Corbyn Cunningham led all scorers with a career-high 26 points on 10 of 17 shooting. She added a career-high 16 rebounds.
- Anastacia Johnson scored 14 points with a team-high five assists
- Kylee Williams and Chris Wilson added 10 points each
