Northwest women let late lead slip away, lose in OT to Pittsburg State

The Northwest Missouri State University women's basketball team lost a hard-fought game to the Pittsburg State Gorillas in 77-76 in overtime.

The Gorillas forced overtime by hitting a three at the buzzer of regulation to tie the game up 66-66. Kendey Eaton missed a contested jumper at the end of overtime.

The Bearcats shot 46.4% from the field in the game and went 10-of-26 (38.5%) from behind the arc. Northwest shot 14-for-16 from the free throw line as well. Northwest won the turnover battle 11-9. Pittsburg State only shot 42.4% from the field but was a scorching 52.9% from behind the arc.

Mallory McConkey had a game-high 22 points on 7-for-13 shooting. Kendey Eaton added 19 and Jayna Green tied a career high with 11 points. Green also led the team with nine rebounds and McConkey added 6sixmore. Erika Schlosser led the Bearcats with six assists and McConkey added four of her own.

Kaylee Dimitz led Pittsburg State with 14 points, followed by Erin Davis with 13 and Sydnee Crain with 12. Dimitz and Crain each had four assists to lead the Gorillas. Athena Alvarado had 11 rebounds to lead the team.

The Bearcats will be back in action at Missouri Western on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
