Western baseball get blanked by No. 27 St. Cloud State 6-0

JOPLIN, Mo. - Missouri Western Baseball rounded out their trip to the MIAA/GLVC Crossover on Monday as the Griffons (3-8) fell to St. Cloud State (3-1) 6-0 in Joplin.

From the first inning onward, it was all St. Cloud State. The Huskies started the matchup scoring two runs in the first inning and never let their foot off the gas for the rest of the contest.

Riley Ahern was the winning pitcher for the St. Cloud. Ahern allowed only three hits and struck out seven batters through five innings pitched. Roy Robles took his second loss on the season for the Griffons. Although the senior struck out six batters, Robles allowed six hits and four runs through six innings.

NOTABLES:

- Zach Pych went two-for-four from plate hitting two of the four total hits for the Griffons.

- Gustavo Gonzales and Andrew Meier each tallied the other two hits.

- The Griffon fielders tallied 27 putouts to St. Cloud's 24 throughout the contest.

- Four errors were booked by the Griffons compared to St. Cloud who was error-less.

- Brian Tan and Jake Gilbert came in for relief of Robles and only allowed three hits in three innings pitched.

UP NEXT:

The Griffons will return to St. Joseph to open home regular season play against Minot State on Feb. 21.
