Northwest Missouri State women roll past Lincoln 59-45

The Northwest Missouri State University women's basketball team defeated the Lincoln Blue Tigers 59-45 in Bearcat Arena to complete the season sweep of Lincoln. The Bearcats shot poorly from the field but played stellar defense on the game to get the win. The Bearcats were able to take advantage of Blue Tiger turnovers, outscoring them off turnovers 11-2. 
Jaelyn Haggard continued her streak of making four threes for her fourth straight game. She added four more points to lead all scorers with 16 points. Paityn Rau added 12 points on only seven shots and Mallory McConkey was also in double digits with 10 points. McConkey and Erika Schlosser led the Bearcats with five rebounds. Schlosser also led the Bearcats with three assists.
Natasha Dolinsky and Vivian Chigbu led Lincoln in scoring with 12 points each. Alecia Gulledge led the Blue Tigers in rebounds with nine, and Dolinksy led them three assists.
The Bearcats will be back in action on the road at Missouri Southern on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Griffon baseball drops both games of DH at Southern Arkansas

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Missouri Western Baseball team (1-5) lost both games of their doubleheader Saturday at Southern Arkansas (7-0), 1-0 and 7-2.

SAU's Zach Smith held the Griffs to four hits and struck out seven batters in eight innings. Smith walked away with the win in game one 1-0.

In game two, the Muleriders topped the Griffons 7-2. SAU's Parker Abrego pitched the entire game, striking out six batters and allowing six hits. Through four innings, Southern Arkansas scored six runs. A solo home run by Zach Hanlan managed to wake up the bats for the Griffons tallying four more hits and another run following the bomb to left field.

NOTABLES:

- Justin Wood started game one for the Griffons. Wood struck out six batters and only allowed five hits throughout the contest.

- Offensively, the Griffons tallied five hits in the first game. Andrew Meier accounted for two of those hits, while Ben Tsui, Reid Briney and Brock Wrolstad added the remaining three.

- Missouri Western's pitching staff of Roy Robles, Jack Schmedding and Jake Gilbert combined seven strikeouts and five hits in game two.

- Maurice Bruce hit a sac fly to right field, allowing Andrew Meier to score the second run in game two.

UP NEXT:

The Griffons return to Walker Stadium to round the series with a fourth game against the Muleriders on Sunday.
