MWSU baseball gets blanked in opener at Southern Arkansas 7-0

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Missouri Western Baseball travelled to Southern Arkansas on Friday to take on the Muleriders in the start of a four-game series. The Griffons (1-3) fell in game one losing to SAU (5-0) 7-0.

The Griffons and Muleriders met on Friday for the fourth time since 2013, but MWSU is still looking for that first victory against SAU following Friday's action. Southern Arkansas was also receiving votes from Collegiate Baseball's Top-25 poll headed into the series.

NOTABLES:

- Andrew Meier only allowed four hits in four innings, facing 15 at-bats while he was in the game.

- MWSU pitchers recorded six strikeouts throughout the day as well as five walks.

- The Griffons also recorded five hits throughout the contest.

- Gustavo Gonzales recorded a double for the Griffons, recording his second straight game with a hit.

UP NEXT:

The Griffons will return to Magnolia, Arkansas to take on SAU for a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
