92-year-old Gilman City man dies after head-on crash

DAVIESS COUNTY — One person died in an accident just after 5p.m. Thursday in Daviess County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 1998 Chevy S-10 driven by William H. Turner, 92, Gilman City, was eastbound on MO 6 two miles north of Jamesport.

The Chevy crossed the centerline into the path of a 2014 Dodge Durango driven by Sarah M. Bird, 42, Gallatin.  

After impact, the SUV traveled off the north side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned.

Daviess County ambulance transported Turner to Wright Memorial Hospital where he died.  A private vehicle transported Bird to Wright Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Turner was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
