St. Joseph man hospitalized after semi strikes pickup

NODAWAY COUNTY — Two people were injured in an accident just before 10:30a.m. Monday in Nodaway County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2012 GMC 2500 driven by Russell J. Redden, 25, Maryville, was exiting southbound onto U.S. 71 from a truck stop.

The vehicle traveled into the path of a 2016 Kenworth semi driven by Christopher E. Thorburn, 48, St. Joseph. The semi struck the driver's side of the GMC.

A private vehicle transported Thorburn to Mosaic. Nodaway County EMS transported Redden to Mosaic. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
