MWSU's Vaval, Webb named honorable mention All-Americans by Don Hansen

BROOKFIELD, Ill. - Missouri Western football's Trey Vaval and Sam Webb added to their list of postseason honors as the duo was named honorable mention Don Hansen Division II All-America.

Both were named first team Don Hansen All-Region, Vaval as a return specialist and Webb as a cornerback. Vaval was also named the Don Hansen Super Region 3 Co-Freshman of the Year. In his first season of collegiate football, Vaval picked up the following honors: first team D2CCA All-America, second team D2Football.com All-America, second team AFCA All-America, honorable mention Don Hansen All-America, first team D2CCA All-Region, first team Don Hansen All-Region, Don Hansen Region 3 Co-Freshman of the Year, first team All-MIAA and Agent Barry Live United Bowl MVP. Vaval led DII with 1,335 combined return yards and ranked second in all of the NCAA in that category. His 34.3 yards per kick return broke a 27-year old MIAA record and were third most in DII. The Blue Springs native ranked also second in DII, averaging 21.1 yards per punt return.

Webb was a first team All-MIAA selection along with earning first team Don Hansen All-Region and second team D2CCA All-Region honors. The junior was sixth in the MIAA iwth 14 passes defended and finished the regular season with 28 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble, a recovered fumble and a blocked kick. The Excelsior Springs native was named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week after forcing three turnovers at Washburn.

The duo helped Griffon Football to its first 9-win season in seven years and a second consecutive Agent Barry Live United Bowl championship.
