MARYVILLE, Missouri - The Northwest Missouri State Bearcat track and field program has both its women's and men's teams ranked in the top 10 in week one of the USTFCCCA's rating index.
The Bearcat women's team is ranked No. 3 in the country and is making its first ever appearance in the USTFCCCA TFRI top 10, since it began in 2009. The Bearcat women have eight top-10 national performances so far this season.
The Northwest men's team is ranked No. 7 in the USTFCCCA TFRI, moving up one spot from its No. 8 preseason rating. The men's ranking is its highest in program history since the beginning of the TFRI. The Bearcat men have seven top-10 national performances to date.
Northwest Missouri State achieved a program record as the Bearcats come in at No. 3 for their first top-five appearance. They jumped 11 spots from their preseason ranking of 14. A huge contributor to the Bearcats climb is Hiba Mahgoub, who owns the top time in the 400, ranked second in the 200, and is part of the second-fastest 4×400 relay in the season. Audrey Wichmann is also ranked No. 4 in the high jump for the Bearcats.
