Missouri transportation officials are cautioning motorists to be careful during this winter weather system which is bringing snow, freezing rain, and rain into the area.

The Missouri Department of Transportation says motorists might become complacent if they perceive the roads are merely wet. MoDOT points out the transition from rain to ice might come quickly and without warning, creating hazardous driving conditions in a matter of seconds.

The slow-moving front is expected to produce a variety of precipitation over the next three days. MoDOT advises drivers to use caution throughout the duration of the system and to not drive distracted, but to buckle up and put the phone down. MoDOT advises drivers involved in a crash or slide-off to stay inside your vehicle with your seat belt on.
