The Salvation Army in St. Joseph exceeded its Red Kettle Campaign goal and is close to its overall fundraising goal.
St. Joseph Salvation Army Officer Major Ron Key says the Red Kettle Campaign goal was $108,000 and they collected $128,000. Key adds they should come close to their overall fundraising goal of $285,000.
“Those funds go to help us to give people food, rent, utility assistance, any type of programs we have such as when we do Christmas Toy Shop, give people their food vouchers at Christmas and at Thanksgiving, it also will go to help fund the shelter that was just opened the end of December,” Key says. “So it’ll kind of just be spread across all the programs that we do.”
Key says they are at 93% of their goal and while the campaign officially wrapped up December 31st, they are still receiving donations in the mail.
