Two 14-year-old NW Missouri boys dead, 3 hospitalized after crash

CALDWELL COUNTY — Two people died in an accident just before 7:30p.m. Sunday in Caldwell County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2017 Chevy Cruz driven by Harley W. Sammons, 18, Plattsburg, was eastbound on Southwest Price Drive one mile south of Polo.

The vehicle skidded on the gravel, traveled off the left side of the road, struck a ditch, became airborne, traveled through a fence and rolled.

Two 14-year-old boys from Polo were pronounced dead at the scene and were transported to Frontier Forensics.

Life Flight Eagle transported another 14-year-old boy to Children's Mercy Hospital. Ray County EMS transported a passenger identified as Seth M. Pate, 20, Polo, to North Kansas City Hospital. Caldwell County EMS transported Sammons to Liberty Hospital. He and the four occupants were not wearing seat belts, according to the MSHP.  The MSHP did not release names of the juveniles.
