Griffon women rout Peru State 91-50

ST. JOSEPH – The Missouri Western women's basketball team (7-2) started a break from conference play with a 91-50 rout of Peru State (3-8) Monday night in the MWSU Fieldhouse.   The Griffons led wire-to-wire and had four players score in double figures.

Eleven Griffons played double-digit minutes and every one of them scored at least a point with eight scoring six or more. Missouri Western shot 54.2% from the field and scored 20 or more in each quarter while holding the Bobcats to 34.6% shooting and no quarters with more than 17 points.  

NOTABLES

  1. MWSU jumped out to a 27-9 lead through the first 10 minutes of the game, shooting 65% in the first quarter.
  2. The Griffons forced 24 Peru State turnovers, scoring 32 points off the miscues and picking up 16 steals.
  3. Missouri logged 21 assists, its second most this season with Katrina Roenfeldt's seven leading the way.
  4. 60 of the 91 points were scored in the paint.
  5. Corbyn Cunningham paced the Griffons with 18 points and eight rebounds on 8 of 12 shooting.
  6. Mychaell Gray scored a season-high 13 points on 6 of 8 shooting.
  7. Roenfeldt had 10 points and added five rebounds and four steals with her seven assists.
  8. Chris Wilson scored 10 points and pulled down six rebounds.
  9. Simone Rodney had a season-high nine points coming off an eight-point performance in the Griffons' last game, at Lincoln.
  10. Anastica Johnson saw her first action since going down in the season opener with an injury. The senior played more than 17 minutes, scoring three points with three rebounds and three steals.
