The Host Lions Club fruit sale kicks off Friday in St. Joseph.

Cases or mixed cases of apples, oranges and grapefruit are available. Roger Unruh with the Host Lions Club says proceeds go back to community organizations.

“We’re all volunteers, we don’t take a thing for administration… we hope the community supports us so we can support the community,” Unruh says. “We have a wonderful time in doing this and we get some wonderful heartwarming stories out of the whole thing as well.”

A majority of the proceeds from the sale go toward funding eye exams and purchasing glasses for those who cannot afford them.

The fruit sale runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day through December 22nd and is located in the parking lot near the East Hills Library.
