BOONE COUNTY — One person died in an accident just before 2a.m. Friday in Boone County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2006 Volkswagen Beetle driven by Hayden S. Holt, 17, Hallsville, was southbound fleeing from Columbia Police on Providence Road at Locust Street
The vehicle traveled off the road, struck a utility pole and overturned. Holt was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to the Boone County Medical Examiner’s office. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
Columbia Police spokesman Jeff Pitts said the chase began after Holt committed a traffic violation.
