The Friends of the St. Joseph Animal Shelter will host an open house and fundraiser this weekend at the soon-to-be renovated new shelter.

An open house Christmas party fundraiser will be held this weekend at the 5909 Corporate Drive location purchased in June.

Kappy Hodges with the Friends of the Shelter says proceeds from the event go toward funding the renovations to be able to open the new shelter.

“The community has been very generous and we’re always looking for more people to contact and talk to about ways to help create the new animal shelter,” Hodges says. “The faster we get the money, the faster we can start the work and get the animals moved from our old place to a new place.”

Hodges says the Christmas party open house is a family and pet friendly event.

“It’s going to be a really fun time," Hodges says. "You'll get to see the inside, the building is not renovated, it’s just the building it’ll be in, but you’ll get to see where it is and go inside and have a good time and fun with the kids… kind of like a Christmas party for your dog and your kids.”

The Waggin Around the Christmas Tree open house will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the 5909 Corporate Drive location. There will be holiday activities going on including a Christmas tree auction and photos with Santa.
