Ray J. Higbe 1939 - 2019

Ray Higbe, 80, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at a local health care facility.


He was born January 21, 1939 in St. Joseph, son of Jessie and Clarence Higbe. He married Sally Campbell on April 23, 1996. Ray worked for Nestle Purina, retiring after 30 plus years. Ray greatly enjoyed woodworking, having built many crafts for family and friends. He also enjoyed using his mechanic skills and bowling.


Ray was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Higbe, mother, Jessie Mabel Higbe, sister, Violet Liechti.


Survivors include, wife, Sally Higbe of St. Joseph, children, Sam Higbe of Gower, MO, Michael (Sharon) Higbe of St. Joseph, Ed (Dawn) Higbe of Kansas City, MO, step-children, Johnnie Tredway of Trenton, MO, Russell (Annie) Ratliff of St. Joseph, Sarah (Greg) Jones of Jefferson City, MO, brother, Melvin "Bud" Higbe of St Joseph, twin sister, Fay Yonning of St. Joseph, grandchildren, Cameron Higbe, John Michael Copeland, Kelly Ray, Maddie, Grayson, and Addison Jones, Jessie and Meghan Ratliff, Elizabeth Tredway, Loriann and Mark Townsend, Dawn Elizabeth Caples, great-granddaughter, Cierra Garrett and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Monday, December 9, 2019 at Rupp Funeral Home, Pastor Larry Williams officiating, The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Deanna M. Holmes  1939 - 2019

Deanna M. Holmes, 79, of St. Joseph, passed Tuesday, December 3, 2019.


She was born December 13, 1939 to Paul and Audrey Deatherage . Deanna was born and raised in Agency, Missouri. She graduated from Faucett High School in 1957. She married Roger Holmes in 1961. They celebrated 44 years of marriage before his passing in 2005. Deanna retired from American Family Insurance Regional Office after over 25 years of service.


Along with her husband, Deanna was preceded in death by her parents, sister Dorothy, brothers Donald and Delbert.


Survivors include her daughters Tonja (Dennis) Billings and Stephanie (Steve) Timmons, grandsons Shawn Coy, Travis and Shane Timmons, three great -grandchildren Dylan and Drake Coy and Renley Timmons, siblings Dewayne Deatherage, Doreen Whetstine and Delores Rumpf-Hodgson, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.


Services will be 1:00 PM Friday, December 6, 2019 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel with visitation starting at 11:00 AM. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery.
