Northwest Missouri State women lose in OT to McKendree 77-69

SAINT JOSEPH, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team fell to the McKendree Bearcats 77-69 in OT in the MWSU Thanksgiving Classic Saturday. 


The Bearcats battled each other all game, in a game that featured seven lead changes and was tied seven times. Northwest led by two at half 28-26. Mia Stillman made a free throw to tie the game at 66 and send it into OT. The two stats that haunted Northwest in this game were rebounds and fouls. They were out rebounded 46-26 which resulted in 13 second chance points for McKendree. Northwest committed 27 fouls as a team and had both Paityn Rau and Jayna Green foul out. McKendree attempted 38 free throws as a result of this, compared to Northwest's 11 attempts. 


Kendey Eaton led Northwest in scoring with 23 points, and Erika Schlosser added 14. Jayna Green led the team with 7 rebounds. Ellie Horn had 2 blocks which was the most of any player in the game. 


Jordan Heberg led McKendree in scoring with 20 points, followed by Megan Jensen with 17 and Brianna Johnson with 13. Jensen and Madison Hart led the team with 8 rebounds each. 


The Bearcats will be back in action Dec. 5, for their conference opener at Lincoln at 5:30 p.m.
