Missouri Western to begin "Gold Fridays" - a flexible approach to class scheduling

Beginning next school year, Fridays will be known as 'Gold Fridays' at Missouri Western State University.

Most classes will be held Monday through Thursday and the purpose of Gold Fridays will be to give students greater flexibility to engage in applied learning opportunities outside of the classroom.

Missouri Western President Matt Wilson says they’re excited to offer the flexible approach to class scheduling.

"Our students really do have that opportunity to engage in the classroom, outside of the classroom, to work, to do internships, to do externships, to do service in the community," Wilson says. "Fridays really can be that 'gold' day for our students where they can make a difference and we can make a difference in their lives."

Wilson says the four-day class schedule may not be a change for every program, but most programs will be adapted beginning in the 2020-2021 academic year.
