MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team defeated the Kansas Christian Falcons in its home opener, 90-22.

It is the most points the Bearcats have scored since tallying 98 in a win over Lincoln (Feb. 25, 2017) . Northwest's victory margin of 68 fell short of its largest ever margin of victory, 99,, set against Missouri-St. Louis on Nov. 26, 1977 in a 120-21 win.

The Bearcats splashed home a barrage of three-pointers going 18-of-38 from behind the arc, one short of the school record of 19 set against Peru State (Nov. 15, 2017).

The Bearcats had four players score in double figures for the first time since Dec. 6, 2018 against Lincoln University. Kylie Coleman led the way with 18 points, followed by Zoie Hayward with 17, Jaelyn Haggard with 15 and Paityn Rau with 10. Hayward and Erika Schlosser led the team with seven assists each. Mia Stillman led the team with nine rebounds, Hayward and Rau each added six more. The Bearcats defense forced the Falcons to commit 21 turnovers and held them to 18.6% shooting.

The Bearcats will be back in action against Maryville University in Maryville, Mo. Tip is scheduled for Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in Bearcat Arena.
