Northwest Missouri State women's basketball signs three for next season

Northwest Missouri State University head women's basketball coach Austin Meyer has announced the addition of three student-athletes during the fall 2019 signing period.

 

Meyer has added Jillian Fleming (Liberty, Missouri, Molly Hartnett (Overland Park, Kansas) and Caely Kesten (Lawrence, Kansas) to compete for the Bearcats beginning in the 2020-21 season.

 

"We could not be more excited about this group of future Bearcats," Meyer said. "All three are talented individuals that have all won at a high level and have competed against some of the best players in the country. They are all terrific human beings with great personalities and we look forward to watching them grow in our program."

 

Fleming is a 5'11" forward from Liberty, Missouri. Fleming is a four-year varsity letterwinner at Liberty High School for head coach and former Bearcat men's basketball player Joe Price. Fleming averaged 10 points and 7.3 rebounds as a junior. Fleming earned first-team all-district and second-team all-conference honors in 2018-19. Fleming and her prep team placed third in the state in 2017-18. Fleming played AAU for the Liberty Pumas under coach Kelly Mason. She is the daughter of Steve and Jennifer Fleming.

 

Hartnett is a 5'9" guard from Overland Park, Kansas. She earned Class 5A second-team all-state honors as a junior at St. Thomas Aquinas High School for head coach Rick Hetzel. Hartnett notched honorable mention all-state accolades as a sophomore. Hartnett has helped lead her prep team to three state championships in 2017, 2018 and 2019. She was also an all-state volleyball selection. Hartnett played AAU with the Next Level Eclipse under coach Jon Lewis, competing in the Blue Star League against some of the nation's best. Hartnett is an honor roll student. She is the daughter of Brian and Kasey Hartnett.

 

Caely Kesten is a 5'8" guard from Lawrence, Kansas. Kesten is a three-time all-state performer at Lawrence Free State High School for head coach Nick Wood. Kesten holds her school record for points in a game (36) and assists in a game (12). She is a member of National Honor Society and is an honor roll student. She served as team captain of her prep squad. Kesten played AAU with the Missouri Phenom for coach Greg Logsdon, where she competed on the EYBL circuit against the top players in the country. She is the daughter of Chris and Emily Kesten.
