Mosaic Life Care is partnering with Children’s Mercy Kansas City to provide increased care to newborns in St. Joseph.
According to a press release from Mosaic, neonatal advanced practice registered nurses from Children’s Mercy will be on-site to provide 24/7 support in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
The press release said that last year, 42 infants received critical care transport from Mosaic to Children’s Mercy in Kansas City. The hope with the partnership is that now more babies born at Mosaic will have access to support without leaving the hospital.
Steven L. Olsen, MD, FAAP, Interim Division Director, Neonatology Children’s Mercy, will serve as the NICU medical director. The partnership also includes ongoing education and training for staff and access to a collaborative network of other Children’s Mercy partner NICUs for shared learning opportunities.
“We take great pride in bringing our expertise to the community of St. Joseph and surrounding area. Having a newborn child in the NICU can be scary and overwhelming, and our goal is to give parents peace-of-mind, while providing the most advanced, specialized care their child needs,” said Dr. Olsen.
