Northwest soccer ties Fort Hays State 1-1

MARYVILLE, Missouri – The Northwest Missouri State University women's soccer team took a 1-1 draw after two scoreless overtime sessions with the Fort Hays State Tigers Sunday afternoon at the Bearcat Pitch.


Bri Wawiorka found the back of the net off a penalty kick in the 13th minute to put the Bearcats up 1-0 in the first half.


In the second half, Taryn Schnell put the Tigers on the board with a goal to tie the game, 1-1.


The Bearcats and Tigers fought through two overtime sessions that resulted in a tie, 1-1.


The Bearcats move to 3-6-3 overall and 1-2-2 in conference play. They will face Rogers State Oct. 18 beginning at 3 p.m. at the Bearcat Pitch.

 

NOTES: This is the third game the Bearcats have gone into two overtimes resulting in a draw this season. Bri Wawiorka recorded her second goal of the season against the Tigers. Goalkeeper Alexis Serna Castillo recorded nine saves. The Bearcats had possession of the ball for 54% of the time against the Tigers. Kaitlyn Case leads the team with five goals … Teagan Blackburn has three and Alex Mausbach, Bri Wawiorka and Manuela Gonzalez have two goals each.
