MWSU men's golf finishes 11th at Holiday Inn Express Classic

ST. JOSEPH – The Missouri Western men's golf team wrapped up the final round of play in the Holiday Inn Express Classic Tuesday at the St. Joseph Country Club. MWSU finished the Classic with a final round score of 304, tallying a final score of 894.

 

The Griffons finished tied for 11th place through the final round of play.

 

Jett Simmons, Lucas Horseman and Tom Buffington shot a score of 75 in the final round of play. Simmons finished the Classic tied for 22nd place with an overall score of 220, Horseman finished tied for 29th with an overall score of 222 and Buffington finished tied for 38th place with an overall score of 224.

 

Matt Thoms finished the day with a score of 79 and an overall score of 229, while Jake Mikesch finished the round with a score of 82 with an overall score of 233.

Missouri Western's Webb named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Missouri Western cornerback Sam Webb has been named MIAA Football Defensive Player of the Week presented by Mammoth Turf for his performance last Saturday at Washburn.


Webb was responsible for all three Griffon takeaways in the 46-21 victory. He pulled down two interceptions along with forcing and recovering a fumble. The junior from Excelsior Springs, Missouri, forced and recovered a fumble on Washburn's first drive of the game that led to a Griffon touchdown. He ended the Ichabods' third drive of the game with an interception that also led to a touchdown for Missouri Western as did his second pick of the game in the second quarter.


Missouri Western returns to Spratt Stadium for homecoming this week, hosting Missouri Southern at 4 p.m.
