MWSU men tied for 10th after first day at St. Joe CC

ST. JOSEPH - The Missouri Western Men's Golf team got the chance to stay on their home course this week as the Griffons hosted day one of their Holiday Inn Express Classic on Monday. The field consisted of 20 teams from throughout the region, including nine MIAA opponents.


The Griffons tied for 10th place through two rounds of play with a team score of 590.


Jett Simmons led the way for the Griffons with a two-round low of 145. He finished tied for 18th place headed into the final round of play.


Lucas Horseman was next best for the team as he tied for 34th place with a score of 147 through two rounds of play. Tom Buffington also scored a 149 on the day, tying him for 44th place.


Matt Thoms and Jake Mikesch had scores of 150 and 151, respectively.


The Griffons will wrap up the final round of action starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the St. Joseph Country Club.
