Sunny and breezy with temps around 90

It's going to feel like the mid to upper 90s today, so if you plan on being outside drink some extra water and maybe take a few breaks. Storms return tomorrow, with severe storms possible during the afternoon/evening. Damaging winds and hail are the main concerns right now. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:


Today: Sunny, with a high near 89. Heat index values as high as 97. South wind 9 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.


Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 74. South wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.


Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 2 p.m. Some of the storms could be severe. Increasing clouds, with a high near 86. Breezy, with a south wind 11 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.


Thursday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 8 p.m. Some of the storms could be severe. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 60. Southwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.


Friday: Sunny, with a high near 81. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.

There are a few small chances for storms for the beginning of the week, mainly in far northeast KS and northwest MO. Then widespread storms are expected on Thursday for everyone. Storms will move out Thursday night, leaving Friday mostly sunny with cooler temperatures. At this time, no severe weather is expected this week.
