A 25-mile diversion is about to end for traffic in the Gower area.
The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced that the Castile Creek Bridge project is nearing completion. L.G. Barcus and Sons won the contract to replace the 64-year-old bridge in Clinton County, which has been closed to traffic since early June. The contractor projects to have work completed on or before the 20th with a ribbon-cutting ceremony tentatively planned by the city of Gower and Gower Area Chamber of Commerce on the 19t.h.
The closing of the bridge has caused considerable inconvenience to commuters. Motorists have used a detour over Routes 116 and E, about 25 miles from one side of the bridge to the other. Commercial truck traffic has been diverted to Interstate 29 and Route 92.
