<img src="https://media.eaglewebservices.com/public/2019/8/1565106487115.gif" width="174" style="cursor: nesw-resize;">COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Men's and Women's Basketball will host a free basketball clinic for area boys (K-6) and girls (K-8) on Saturday, Sept. 14, at Douglass Park in Columbia. Located at 400 North Providence Road, Douglass Park, is one of Columbia's largest gathering places for local children. The Tigers will teach drills during the clinic, as well as speak to participants in a Q&amp;A forum. "Making a positive impact on our communities youth means so much to our basketball programs and Mizzou Athletics,” Men’s Basketball coach Cuonzo Martin said. “Our student-athletes and staff are excited to get out and interact with kids right here in our back yard.” “There is nothing more important than building and fostering relationships in the community where you live, work and play,” Women’s Basketball coach Robin Pingeton said. “This event is so important to both the men’s and women’s basketball programs for so many reasons. It allows us to give back to the community which supports us and it provides an opportunity to do community outreach while doing something we have a great passion for. My dear friend and colleague, Coach Willie Cox was a tremendous advocate of this event and we will continue to build and invest in not only this event but other programs that will allow us to impact lives in a positive way.” Additionally, the two Mizzou programs will play contests with participants, hold prize give-a-ways and sign autographs following the completion of basketball drills. Parents are reminded that NCAA recruiting rules disallow Mizzou's basketball programs from providing instruction to boys above the sixth grade and to girls above the eighth grade. Clinic participants can range from kindergarten to sixth grade for boys and from kindergarten to eighth grade for girls. Walk-up registration runs from 9:30 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. Parents of participants are encouraged to print, sign and bring the waiver form prior to arrival.
