Partly sunny and breezy today with temps near 90

There are a few small chances for storms for the beginning of the week, mainly in far northeast KS and northwest MO. Then widespread storms are expected on Thursday for everyone. Storms will move out Thursday night, leaving Friday mostly sunny with cooler temperatures. At this time, no severe weather is expected this week. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:


Today: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. Heat index values as high as 95. South wind 6 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.


Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. South wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.


Tuesday: Cloudy through mid morning, then becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 87. South wind around 7 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.


Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. South wind around 6 mph.


Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. South wind 6 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.


Wednesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. Chance of precipitation is 30%.


Thursday: A chance of showers, then showers and thunderstorms likely after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 86. Chance of precipitation is 70%.


Thursday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 8 p.m., then a chance of showers between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Temps in the low 80s through the weekend

Overall, we’ve got decent weather for the weekend ahead. We do have storm chances though, starting Saturday night after sunset through Sunday afternoon. No severe weather is expected right now, but heavy rain is possible especially across northern MO. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:


Today: Sunny, with a high near 81. North wind around 10 mph.


Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 58. Northeast wind 3 to 7 mph.


Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 80. Light east northeast wind becoming east southeast 5 to 9 mph in the morning.


Saturday Night: A slight chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. East southeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.


Sunday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 4 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. Southeast wind 5 to 7 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
