The Missouri State Highway Patrol has named the officers involved in a shooting last week in St. Joseph.

According to MSHP Troop H, the three officers involved were Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office Deputies assigned to the Drug Strike Force, Investigator Billy Paul Miller and Investigator Erica Tate and St. Joseph Police Dept. Detective Aaron King.

As previously reported, officers located a man with active warrants in the area of 1000 Riverview Drive. The man was known to be armed and dangerous and when officers encountered him, he threatened officers with a weapon and shots were fired. The man was hit by a gunshot and transported to the hospital.

Sgt. Jake Angle with the patrol, says the investigation is still ongoing.

“Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control investigators are still following up leads, conducting interviews and the case is moving along,” Angle says. “It’s probably going to be a little bit of time… every officer-involved shooting, every investigation is different so to put a timeline on it would be difficult, but our officers are working hard and we just want to make sure we dot all our Is, cross all our Ts and conduct a thorough and complete investigation.”

According to the patrol, the suspect remains in critical but stable condition.
