DAVIESS COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 12:30a.m. Friday in Daviess County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2012 Honda Accord driven by Christopher M. Ellis, 26, Cedar Rapids, IA., was northbound on Interstate 35 ten miles south of Pattonsburg.
The car struck a pedestrian identified as Matthew J. Martin, 46, Preston ID., who was walking northbound on the highway. The car then came to a stop on the east shoulder.
Martin was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Stith Funeral Home. Ellis was not injured and properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the MSHP. Authorities released no additional details.
