On Wednesday, the Albrecht Kemper Museum of Art will celebrate six decades of bringing art to the St. Joseph community with a birthday bash at the museum.
Executive Director Eric Fuson says they are excited to celebrate 60 years at the museum's location along Frederick Avenue, and says it's been a wonderful addition to the community.
"It continues to grow, our collection is now at over 3,200 pieces after starting at just one with that small group of women that started the whole thing, and it really has been just a labor of love for this whole community," Fuson says on the KFEQmunnity show.
The celebration on Wednesday will be filled with nostalgia and tons of fun to celebrate the milestone. Marketing and Communications Director Madison McKinley says local musician John Keck will be on hand to play some music
"He's going to be there from 5:30 to 6:30 playing some tunes just to kind of set the ambiance, the vibe," McKinley says. "We have the gals who have been great volunteers and cooks for us in the past and they're all having a little reunion and they're getting together and they're all making their favorite dishes to serve,"
"And then we're going to have a very fancy tiered birthday cake ready to give to people, and it's just going to be a fun time, we're going to have probably some tours going on in the galleries, and getting together as a community and celebrating what we have and what we've built."
The celebration will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 7pm and is free to attend for everyone.
