Cameron Jeffrey Cornelius, 32, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024. He was born on February 12, 1992, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Ronald D. Cornelius, Jr. and Renee F. Mortimore.
Cameron was a graduate of Lafayette High School, class of 2010. Throughout his life, Cameron was an avid sports enthusiast. He famously supported the Philadelphia Eagles and held a special place in his heart for the Kansas City Chiefs. His passion also extended to boxing, where he was a member of Team Calloway. Wrestling captured his attention often, and he enjoyed watching matches with friends and family. Above all, Cameron was known for his outgoing nature, an excellent sense of humor, and a personality that drew people to him. He was someone who never met a stranger and could be relied upon to lift the spirits of those around him.
He had worked at Cornelius Tree Service for his father as a foreman.
Most importantly, Cameron's pride and joy were his sons, Landon and Karsin. They were the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Cameron's memory is treasured by a loving family: his father, Ronnie Cornelius; mother and best friend, Renee Mortimore (Larry); children, Landon and Karsin Cornelius; sister, Cortney Caudle (Kaleb); brothers, Scott Caw and Powell Cornelius (Hope); his first and forever love, Shelby Russell; his grandparents, Patty Platz, Louretta Smith, and Ron Cornelius, Sr.; great-grandmother, Betty Cornelius; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family members who felt his unconditional love and support.
He was preceded in death by his nephew, Talyn D; grandfather, Richard "Dick" Mortimore; and step-grandfathers, Jack Platz and Glen Smith.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
