For 71 years the St. Joseph Lions Club has been serving up pancakes and bringing the community together.
Lions club member Ron Barbosa says the Lions Club serves an estimated three to four thousand people over the weekend during Pancake Days. Barbosa says the event is a social event.
"You go around there during the day and evening, you have people coming in and they see people they haven't seen for quite a while, so it becomes a social thing too," Barbosa tells KFEQ Hotline host Barry Birr.
Host Lions Club member Roger Unruh says all funds raised during the event go directly back into the community.
"When the end of the day comes, we want to be able to support those individuals who house people that are in jeopardy, the homeless people, the people that need to be fed, that's what our goal is to do that," Unruh says. "And then we also help a lot of international organizations, because ultimately those international organizations will come back and help us, help the community."
Tickets for the event are $10 at the door or $8 if you get them from a Lions Club member.
Doors open Friday through Sunday at 7am. Pancakes will be served Friday and Saturday until 7pm, and on Sunday until 2pm.
