For 63 years the Allied Arts Council has championed the arts in St. Joseph connecting organizations, and will celebrate that milestone during its Annual Meeting next week at the Albrecht Kemper Museum of Art.
Along with the meeting, the 35th annual Mayor's Awards for the Arts will also be presented honoring individuals and organizations whose talent, leadership, and dedication have made a lasting impact on St. Joseph's vibrant arts community. The awards will be presented in six categories and this year’s nominees include
- Artist of the Year: Eric Fuson
- Arts Educator of the Year: Andrea Aeschliman, Carol Myers, and Molly Ring
- Youth Artist: William Calderwood, Macormick Carlson, and Hayden Cooperrider
- Organizational Achievement in the Arts: Commerce Bank and Veritas Systems Construction
- Individual Leadership: Nancy Schmidt-Brunson
- Outstanding Volunteer: Jeremy Glenn, Christina Hazelwood and Tona Williams
“The Mayor’s Awards for the Arts celebrates the people who remind us that creativity is a shared experience,” Executive Director of the Allied Arts Council Jessica Agnew says in a news release. “Through the dedication of artists, educators, volunteers, organizations, and supporters, we see the power of what happens when we come together. Together, we create a community where the arts can thrive.”
The Annual Meeting will begin at 5:00pm followed by cocktail hour, dinner and the awards ceremony at 5:30pm. Tickets to the event can be purchased by clicking HERE or by calling the Allied Arts Council offices.
