A 65-year old Rushville man was shot in the head and beaten at his home, 11901 North Shore Drive, Saturday night, just south of Rushville.
The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office responded at 7:30 AM Sunday to Amberwell Hospital in Atchison, Kansas.
Per a release from the Sheriff's Office, victim testimony is that two unknown black men ran over his cat. An argument followed, the males exited their car, and one of them shot the victim, then both men beat him with a bicycle frame.
The victim was airlifted to KU Medical Center for treatment. The investiagtion is ongoing.
Investigators have executed several search warrants, and are continuing to follow leads.
