After adding wide receiver Deandre Hopkins to bolster the wide receiver room last week, the Kansas City Chiefs are now working to add to their pass rush attack, adding Patriots linebacker Josh Uche today.
Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid confirmed the trade during his weekly press conference over Zoom with reporters.
"That will be a nice addition too, going forward," Reid said.
Kansas City traded a sixth round pick to New England for Uche who was a healthy scratch during Sunday's 25-22 win over the New York Jets for the Patriots amid trade interest for the fifth year linebacker.]
Uche, whose 26 years old, has two sacks and ten tackles this year in six games. In his career he's compiled 20.5 sacks. Uche joins a Chiefs defense that is currently ranked second in the NFL.
Uche re-signed with the Patriots as a free agent before the season on a one-year, $3 million contract. He will be an unrestricted free agent after this season
Arrowhead Pride Editor in Chief Pete Sweeney reports that to make room for Uche, per a source, Kansas City is placing tight end Jody Fortson on IR after Fortson left Sunday's win against the Raiders with a right knee injury. Reports said Fortson was spotted leaving the game on crutches
