The St. Joseph Mustangs grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back, beating the Carroll Merchants 6-2 Thursday at Phil Welch Stadium.
The Mustangs managed eight total hits and scored three big insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh. Ike Book, Jeremy Rader and Ben Click each had two hits. Ryan Callahan hit a triple in his first game as a Mustang.
On the hill, Bishop LeBlond alum Frank Gall got the win in six innings, allowing just three hits and one earned run. Former Savannah Savage Braden Berry struck out three batters in three innings of relief.
The Mustangs improve to 9-5 on the season with their third straight win. St. Joseph is home to Jefferson City on Friday night at 7 p.m.
