Eagle Communication’s very own station, JoeTown 107.5 and The Gregg Lynn Radio Show are holding their 17th annual Radio-A-Thon May 27th to benefit Camp Quality of Northwest Missouri.
JoeTown 107.5 Program Director and Radio Personality Gregg Lynn says Camp Quality relies entirely on private donations.
“This is the only money they get. They don’t get government money, the government funding, anything like that. This is how they raise their money to hold camp,” Lynn tells St. Joseph Post. “When they have an in-person camp it costs about $1,500 per camper and they have over 100 campers.”
Lynn says the Radio-A-Thon all started because of a visit to the camp.
“It was really an amazing experience because you think, you go out to a summer camp with kids who have cancer and it’s all just sad and horrible and oh my gosh they’re all sick and it’s actually the exact opposite about that. It is probably the most fun place you would ever visit in your life,” says Lynn. “These kids are just having a blast.”
Lynn says anyone can donate to the Radio-A-Thon but he really encourages offices to make group donations.
“Take up a collection with everybody, all the cubicles around you and then bring it out and I’ll talk to you on the air or I’ll give you a big shout out and say ‘Hey thanks a lot for helping,’ and so really anybody who's got a couple bucks and wants to help out some kids with cancer and help them have a great summer, just stop by and see us,” says Lynn.
Lynn says he will be hosting the broadcast live at 107.5 FM on Thursday from Sav-On Furniture Mart starting at 6am and going until 6pm. Everyone is invited to visit Sav-On and make a donation to Camp Quality or call in a pledge to 816-232-CAMP. You can also donate online at the JoeTown website.
