The American Football Coaches’ Association released their Division II college football top 25 poll Monday, and Northwest Missouri State is ranked No. 4 in the country.
The Bearcats received one first place vote after finishing 2019 with a 12-2 record and finishing that season ranked No. 7.
Northwest opens their season on Thursday, September 2 at Fort Hays State at 7 p.m.
Missouri Western football, meanwhile, received one vote in the AFCA poll. The Griffons open their season on Thursday, Sept. 2 at Central Oklahoma. That game starts at 7 p.m. and will be carried on KFEQ Radio - 680 AM and 95.3 FM in St. Joseph.
The only other MIAA school to be ranked is Central Missouri. The Mules are No. 13.
MIAA members UNK, Fort Hays State and Pittsburg State all received votes.
