Gary Koehn October 30, 1937-June 22, 2025

Gary Lee Koehn, the first of seven boys, was born to Glenn and Luella Johnson Koehn on October 30, 1937 in Mcpherson County Kansas. His earthly journey ended, due to complications of old age, on June 22 2025 in his hometown of Hiawatha, Kansas, reaching the age of 87 years.

His eight years of school were spent at Liberty School in Galva, Kansas. He answered the Lord's call and was baptized by minister Abe D Koehn at the age of thirteen. The faith was precious to him all his life.

Dad married Linda Unruh on April 11, 1958, taking her with him to Denver, Colorado for two years of 1-W service the following October. Their first years of married life after service were spent at Galva, Kansas, moving to Almena,Wisconsin in 1968 to begin dairying. While living in Kansas he worked at different manufacturing jobs. They operated the dairy in Wisconsin for 24 years, retiring to a small house they built down the road a little way. After spending a winter in Hiawatha, KS in 2001, they decided to move there in the fall of 2002.

To this union five children were born; two sons and three daughters.

In later years they gave time in different places as house parents: Rochester, Minnesota, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Edmonton, Alberta. Dad enjoyed these times as he was a lover of people.

His survivors include his wife of 67 years, Linda of Hiawatha, KS, Children: Steve and Arlene, Saragosa, TX; Teresa and Dalen Ensz, Muleshoe, TX; Sheldon and Emilie, Hiawatha, KS; Christine and Steve Litwiller, Almena,WI; Connie and Kendall Koehn, Ulysses, KS.

Twenty three grandchildren and thirty four great grandchildren.

Brothers; Garland and Faylene, Ronald and Delores, Linwood and Pauline,

David and Carolee, and Calvin and Norma. Brothers in law and sisters in law; Rosalie Holton, Saundra Unruh, Roger and Corrine Unruh, Calvin Helms, Vicky, Wanda, and Dixie. Special friend of the family Troy and Faye Terry. He was preceded in death by his parents and parents in law, brother,

Glenn Allen and wife Mavis; brother in law Donnie Unruh and sister in law Barbara Roderick.

The funeral service for Gary will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the North Ridge Church at Sabetha, Kansas.  Burial will follow at the Hiawatha Mennonite Cemetery.
