Gerald Eugene "Fed" Rosenberger 1933 - 2020

Gerald Eugene “Fed” Rosenberger, 86, of Highland, with family by his side, passed away peacefully at his home, Friday afternoon, June 19, 2020.

Fed, as he was known by family and friends, was born September 12, 1933, one of four children of Edgar and Ruby Hopper Rosenberger, on the family farm near White Cloud.  Fed was a lifelong resident of this area where he attended country schools, Hilltop Grade School, Martin School, before graduating from Reserve High School with the class of 1951.  He served with the Kansas Army National Guard, from 1955 until 1959, discharged at the rank of SP2.  He was born a farmer, was a good steward of the ground all of his life, worked with his Dad, with his son and later with his grandson  before retiring in 2019 after 69 years under his care.

He was a member White Cloud Christian Church, the Kennel Club, and Saddle Club, both of White Cloud.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 233.  Fed was quite a guy, was always very friendly, personal, and always had a story to tell.  Most importantly, he loved to have fun.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, and watching his great-grands.  He loved to mow, and was doing so up to two weeks ago. He said when someone went to check on him while mowing he said “I hope there are sunflowers and corn knives in heaven.”

Gerald married Patricia Idol at Manhattan Bible College April 28, 1951.  They have made the Highland community their home for the last 44 years.  Patty Ann survives of the home.

Also surviving are his children Randall Rosenberger (Delinda) of Atchison, Dedra Bunck (Bob) of Everest, grandchildren: Branson Rosenberger (Terri) of Troy, Nikia Weber (Jeff) of Atchison, Lindsey Miller (Tyler) of Wathena, Bobbie Ann Jacobson  (Charlie) of Towanda, KS,  Brice Bunck (Allison) of Topeka, Bailey Lanter (Michael) of Everest, great-grandchildren include Cassidy and Caden Rosenberger, Griffin and Emerson Weber, Bryer, Brailee, Bentlee, and Barrett Miller, Spencer Rose, Eli, Brett Violet and Duke Jacobson, Cole, Tenley, Creighton, and Sawyer Bunck, Tiffin and Beckett Lanter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Melvin Rosenberger, two sisters:  Barb Gurwell, and Betty Dunn.

Friends may call at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland after 10 until 6 p.m. Monday.

Services are planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, at the Doniphan West High School Gymnasium, with Don Harter officiating.  Burial will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery, White Cloud.  Masonic Committal Service and Military Honors will be conducted.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Fed and Pat Rosenberger Scholarship Fund, sent in care of funeral home, PO Box 33, Highland 66035.
