Lora Joann Willming, age 62, of Atchison, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the University of Kansas Medical Center peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
She dedicated thirty-two years of her life to nursing at the Atchison Hospital, where she was a Registered Nurse with various roles throughout her career there. After retiring from the hospital, she continued her nursing career with the Dooley Center for a short period of time and then joined Valley Hope as a Charge Nurse until she was no longer to practice her nursing career due to medical issues. She had great passion for being a nurse and a caretaker for her patients as well as many of her family members throughout their lives. Lora also shared her expertise as an interim instructor at Highland Community College in the Nursing Program.
Lora is survived by her sister, Carrie Jones; her brother, Wade (Heather) Willming; and nieces Aubrie Jones, Laney Jones, Eleanor Willming, Elizabeth Willming, and Kylee Watowa. She is also remembered by her great nieces and nephew that loved her so dearly, Lynlee Miller, Averie Miller, Brooklyn Miller, and Dean Jones; cousins from the Willming's, Arensberg’s, Matthew’s, River’s, Regan’s, Schneider’s, and Turpin's families. Lora also had many life-long friendships from school all the way through college, her career and beyond that she always cherished greatly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents Raymond A. and Mary Ellen Matthews, Guy and Ruby Willming, her brother, Bryan Willming, numerous aunts, great-aunts, uncles and cousins.
