Frederick William Wood , 76, a resident of Weston, MO passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024, in his home with family. Fred was born April 23, 1947, in Kansas City, MO. His parents William E. Wood Sr. and Norma Jean (Bickelhaupt) Wood lived in Kansas City, MO. He was a 1965 graduate of North Kansas City High School in Missouri. He worked for his father in his residential painting business for many years. He was a kid at heart, and loved hunting, fishing, camping, and building and flying model airplanes. He also loved CB Radio, and RC cars and boats. When Fred was younger, he loved bowling and playing softball, and spent a lot of time with his family at H&H Lake.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 younger sisters Tovey G. McRill, and Tammy Pemberton. He is survived by his son Richard L. Wood, daughter Denise D. Rucker (Jason), daughter Shauna S. Ashpaugh; grandchildren Preston W. Reeves, Lincoln K. Reeves, Holly A. Reeves, John D. Reeves Jr., Waylon J. Ashpaugh, Jewel A. Ashpaugh, and great grand grandson Isaiah D. Reeves, his brother William E. Wood Jr., sisters Tina K. Raney (Mitch), Gloria R. Copenhaver, and brother Todd L. Wood, and many nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a visitation will be held 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Wednesday March 20, 2024, at First Baptist Church Platte City; followed by a celebration of life ceremony at 5:00 pm.
