St. Joseph School District Operations Dir. receives national award

The Interim Director of Operations for the St. Joseph School District, Casey Housman, has been named the 2024 National Plant Manager of the Year.

Housman received the award at the National School Plant Management Association annual conference in Nashville.

“Mr. Housman’s commitment and dedication make him a perfect recipient of the NSPMA 2024 Plant Manager of the Year Award. He has distinguished himself over his 23 years of professional facilities management by meeting and exceeding the expectations of each successful career challenge given to him,” according to a release from the National School Plant Management Association.

Housman joined the St. Joseph School District in 2019 as a facilities supervisor. He was promoted to coordinator and is currently the interim director of Operations.

“I am honored to receive this award. The St. Joseph School District is my top priority. My experience and education insure the best possible results will be administered in all aspects of facility maintenance, expenditures, upgrades, and accountability,” Housman said in a written statement released by the association.

Superintendent Gabe Edgar also released a statement.

“Casey has shown outstanding abilities consistently showcasing his exceptional problem-solving skills. During recent weather events where, multiple buildings were having heating issues, Casey’s decisive actions and leadership demonstrated his ability to navigate complex situations effectively and ensure smooth plant operations. His expertise, leadership, and commitment to excellence are assets to our organization.”
