Joyce Elaine (Hundley) Murphy, 77, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, March, 5th, 2026.
Joyce was born to the late Ruth (Johnson) and Leslie "Andy" Hundley on July 16th, 1948, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Joyce remained in St. Joseph for her entire lifetime. Joyce graduated with the class of 1965 at Lafayette High School. On August 28th, 1965 she was united in marriage to James "Mike" Murphy. The couple welcomed a son, Gary to this union. Joyce and Mike celebrated 54 years of marriage.
Joyce opened her own in home daycare which she operated for many decades before retiring, to tend to her own grandchildren. She cared for many children in the warm loving environment of her and Mike's home.
Joyce was a faithful member of the Three Angels Seventh Day Adventist Church, and previously the Savannah Avenue Baptist Church. Joyce had formed many lifelong friends through her church family.
Preceding Joyce were her parents, brother, James Hundley, and her husband, Mike in 2020. She is survived by her son, Gary (Jill) Murphy, and beloved grandchildren; Andrew Murphy, John Murphy, Erin Murphy, Michael Gordon, and Erica Gordon, and cherished great-grandchildren Jaclyn Murphy, Arlyn Murphy, and Violet Gordon.
Services for Joyce will be held on Saturday, March 14th, 2026 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith-Sidenfaden Chapel of St. Joseph, Missouri. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM officiated by Pastor Tim Saxton, with the visitation to be held one hour prior (from 1:00-2:00 PM) Interment to follow at Ashland Cemetery.
In lieu of floral arrangements, memorials are suggested to be directed to the Three Angels Seventh Day Adventist Church of St. Joseph, Missouri.
