The St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce is hosting online candidate forums ahead of this year's election.

“Of course everyone is talking about the national races and that will probably bring people out to vote on November 3rd," says Kristi Bailey, Chamber Director of Communications and Marketing. "But there’s definitely a lot of local races that people need to educate themselves about before the election.”

Bailey says the Chamber will host two Public Affairs Coffees live on their Facebook page with the first coming up at 1 p.m. Wednesday. That will feature candidates running in contested races in Buchanan County which are for assessor, treasurer and public administrator. Candidates for assessor are Dean Wilson and Chad Farrow. Candidates for treasurer are David Gall and James P. “Jimmy” Nash. Candidates for public administrator are Annette Bertelsen and Megan Kennedy Stickley.

The second forum will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26th and will feature state representative candidates. Those races are in District 9 between Dean VanSchoiack and Karen Planalp; District 10 between Bill Falkner and Colby Murphy; and District 11 between Brenda Shields and Brady Lee O'Dell.
