Luther "Scott" Wineinger, 72, of St Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 27, 2025 at his home surrounded by family following a 15 year battle with cancer.
He was born May 25, 1952 in St. Joseph, son of Lettie and Luther Wineinger. Scott graduated from Benton High School, class of 1970. On November 2, 1979, he married Sandy Shroyer in St. Joseph. Scott was a United States Army Veteran. He worked at Black Gunite Concrete products, served as Pastor at the Soul's Harbor Church for 15 years, and spent the last 18 years as a grounds keeper at the St. Joseph Country Club. He was a hard worker, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching westerns. He was an avid KC Chiefs and KC Royals fan, and was a proud supporter of his children and grandchildren and their sporting activities. Of all things he was a Godly man and he loved Jesus. Scott was a member of the Hope Community Church in Elwood, KS.
Preceding him in death was his parents, sisters, Carolyn Pettyjohn, Stephanie Wineinger-Phillips, and Frances-Marlene Wineinger.
Survivors include: wife of 45 years, Sandy Wineinger of the home, children, Shannon (Doug) Roberts of St. Joseph, Cristal (Christian) Fuller of Waldron, MO, Shane (Alena) Wineinger of St. Joseph, and Justin (Cayce) Wineinger of St. Joseph, sister, Sharon Wineinger-McGrath of Jacksonville, FL, 10 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Wineinger has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Hope Community Church, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 Saturday.
