Dan DeShon 1959 - 2024

Dan DeShon, 64, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 24, 2024.

He was born September 23, 1959 in Banning, California, to Ted and Billie (Burnett) DeShon. Dan lived in California as a child before the family moved first to Nebraska and then St. Joseph.

Dan married Angie Sue Talbott on August 11, 1979. She survives of the home.

He went to work as a foreman at the Chicago Northwestern Railroad in 1979 and retired after 20 years. He then worked at Nestle-Purina PetCare for 14 years as a maintenance mechanic.

Dan enjoyed his Harley-Davidson motorcycles and Mopar cars as well as going to car shows.

An outgoing guy, Dan didn’t know a stranger and loved to tell stories, which got better with each re-telling. He loved to spend as much time as he could with his grandkids and also went to as many of his kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events that he could.

He also enjoyed traveling on family vacations, with Cabo San Lucas being one of his favorite destinations.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ted DeShon; biological mother, Phyllis Runyan; and sister, Annette DeShon.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 45 years, Angie; children, Daniel Lee DeShon, Jr. and Nicole Sowell (Ryan); grandchildren, Brensley Fox, Bryson Fox, Breann Sowell, Gannon Sowell, Peyton Miller, and Cooper DeShon; his mother, Billie DeShon; siblings, Brian DeShon (Amy), Joyce Ruybal (Roger), and Nancy Reddinger (Mark); other extended family and friends.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1:00 P.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
